Interview mit ARKANGEL


TL2IN: I think that it will not be needfully to introduce yourself and tell us the complete history of ARKANGEL but it would be cool if you could give us a short insight what you have done since you released your last cd on your own record label?
ARKANGEL: Since “hope you die by overdose” we never stop playing shows and small tours, we got the chance to play in countries we never have been before like Portugal, Poland,...and we did a tour in Japan / Korea. End 2006 we decide to take a break and start to work on a new album, which one came out 3 months ago on GSR Music.

TL2IN: "ARKANGEL IS YOUR ENEMY" was released by GSR Music and not via your own Label Privat Hell Records. How do you get in contact with GSR Music?

ARKANGEL: During the period of shows we got the chance to enter a studio for a weekend and release a demo with 3 new tracks. Theo from GSR Music got the chance to have a copy and contact us right after telling us he was interested to release an album on his label. It takes us some months before we were ready with a full album but finally here is it “Arkangel is your Enemy” on GSR Music. 

TL2IN: Your brand-new album "ARKANGEL IS YOUR ENEMY" is out since a few weeks. Can you tell us something about the work in the studio and the new songs? What was all different from the recording of your last album to the new full lenght?
ARKANGEL: The biggest difference is that we recorded the new album with a true line-up, 5 members, each one playing his parts creating different feelings and atmosphere. With “hope you die by overdose” we were just 3 and I did all guitars and bass.

TL2IN: Are you satisfied and happy with the result?
ARKANGEL: Working with Dirk Miers as producer is very cool, he knows us and the way Arkangel is working. We are very satisfied with the result and the mastering made by Allan Douches give the music also a new dimension.

TL2IN: Can you please give us an insight into the lyrics and tell us something about the shouted words?
ARKANGEL: Lyrics are very dark, pessimist and related to Arkangel personal experiences. All lyrics were written by our singer Baldur .

TL2IN: What does the cover artwork symbolize and what is its association to the title?
ARKANGEL: The cover is representing the lyrics and the title can be take in different interpretation, it can be personal or as a general image of society, how society try to control everybody, making of each man his enemy... 

TL2IN: Do you have any favourite song on the new record which you like to play, e.g. in connection to the lyrics, a special background or something like that?
ARKANGEL: For sure “13th hour”.

TL2IN: Will you hit the road and play some shows in Germany to promote "ARKANGEL IS YOUR ENEMY" in the near future?
ARKANGEL: I hope so and we have to play more in Germany, we are working on it.

TL2IN: What can we expect from you in the upcoming month?
ARKANGEL: I don’t know but sure we will play first some shows on week-end to promote the album and as I said we are working on a tour planned for 2009...

TL2IN: What do you think distinguish you from other acts in the hardcore/metalcore scene?
ARKANGEL: The sound of Arkangel, which one was born in 1996!!!

TL2IN: What do you think about straight edge?
ARKANGEL: Cool, but everybody is free to manage his life as he wants.

TL2IN: What do you think about violent dancing at hardcore shows?
ARKANGEL: Cool, if it stays neutral and not a pretext to show someone else that you are stronger or bigger.
